We congratulate her for being a senior at Suitland High School, in Suitland, MD. We congratulate her for being awarded a 4-year ROTC scholarship to study Pre-Med at The Ohio State University starting this fall. Read more about Tiana below, in her own words. From an early age I was taught that power comes from knowledge, not from money nor fame but solely from the strength of your intelligence. As my father and grandfather are veterans, they taught me to act diligently and ensure that every step that I make will help better prepare me for my future. My mother, being the kindhearted woman that she is, taught me that giving back to the people who gave to you will open doors for others who may not have the same opportunity that you have. Thus, making it very clear to me that the Army ROTC was the perfect choice to purse not only for my educational career but also for my work career.
I started high school not knowing what I wanted to do with my life but i was certain that I wanted to go to college. From the help of my family, my JROTC commander, and my coaches I was able to hit the ground running. Their solid foundation allowed me to blossom into an independent young woman ready to take on anything that comes my way. With hard work, dedication, and trust the world is my oyster and anything was and still is possible.
Forth coming I will be attending the Ohio State University on a 4-year Army ROTC scholarship majoring in health science with the hopes of going to med school. I plan on becoming an OB/GYN to give African American women a better chance of survival during their pre and post-natal care.
